The pomeranian is a toy dog weighing no more than ten pounds. He is a classy, prancy type with lots of energy. Poms have a thick full undercoat and a longer overcoat of hair making him look just as royal as he feels. The colors vary from light to black in solids and sables.
The pom is quite affectionate and loyal , many times choosing one person in the household as his own.
Breed standards are set by breed organizations formed to oversee the well being of the breed. Every pom is not a carbon copy of the perfect standard, but the standard is a concept to work for. Small variations define the individual and enhance personality.
He exhibits great intelligence in expression, and is alert in character and deportment. Brave, sweet and loving, the Pomeranian will dedicate herself to her owner.
Some Poms are not good with very young children. An even temperament is very important in looking for a childs pet. Even very young puppies show indications about their temperaments. This should always be taken into consideration when choosing a family pet. Dog personalities are as individual as human beings'.
Pomeranians are many times very vocal, proving to be good watch dogs.
Pomeranians are proud, full of personality, and have a mind of their own. However the intellegent little guys are eager to learn and easily trained.
